A sea chest for a ship forms the shortest possible circulation line of cold seawater or ice flowing into a sea chest, supplies the seawater or the ice at a proper temperature by a simple structure, and comprises: a vertical baffle having a plurality of passing holes through which the seawater flowing through an inlet between a deck and a sea chest wall passes horizontally; a horizontal baffle having a plurality of circulation holes through which the seawater flowing to the vertical baffle passes to circulate the seawater upwards; and heating coils disposed on one side of the vertical baffle and the horizontal baffle where the seawater passes to increase a temperature of the cold seawater and melt ice. Accordingly, unnecessary wide space for accommodating a sea chest is not required. Heat exchange efficiency of the seawater can be increased without a complex structure. Manufacturing costs can be reduced by high processing efficiency of the baffles. |
