摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rare earth metal recovery method in which a rare earth metal is extracted from a rare earth magnet by using molten magnesium, the magnesium including the extracted rare earth metal and residual components of the rare earth magnet are separated from each other, and in addition the rare earth metal and magnesium are separated from the magnesium including the rare earth metal.SOLUTION: In a rare earth metal recovery method in which a rare earth metal is recovered from a rare earth magnet 10, the rare earth magnet 10 and magnesium 20 with the weight 5 to 15 times that of the rare earth magnet are supplied to a reaction vessel 102, the rare earth metal is extracted from the magnet including the rare earth metal with high efficiency into the molten magnesium, the residual magnet from which the rare earth metal has been extracted and the liquid magnesium with the rare earth metal dissolved therein are separated from each other, the magnesium is made to evaporate from the separated liquid magnesium with the rare earth metal included therein and is transferred to a magnesium recovery vessel 101b, and thereby the rare earth metal and the magnesium are recovered.
