PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve downsizing of a regular expression circuit and a device on which the circuit is loaded.SOLUTION: The input character string confirmation device includes: a plurality of character check circuits 34a to 34c to which the characters of an input text are successively input, and which determine whether or not the pertinent characters match predetermined characters; state bits 38a to 38h and mask bits 40a to 40j which control the validity/invalidity of the determination of the character check circuits; and a collation confirmation circuit 42 which determines that normal expressions are included in the input text when it is determined that the input characters match the predetermined characters by the final character check circuit among the plurality of character check circuits 34a to 34c. After it is determined that the input characters match the predetermined characters by the character check circuit whose determination is valid, the state bits and the mask bits invalidate the determination of the next character check circuit, and validate the determination of the character to be input next until characters are input only by the number of characters of arbitrary characters in the normal expressions. |
