PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capacitance type occupant detection device capable of improving the occupant detection accuracy.SOLUTION: The capacitance type occupant detection device of the present invention includes: an electrostatic sensor 1 having a detection electrode 11 and a guard electrode 13; a detection voltage application section 21 that applies a detection voltage to the detection electrode 11 and creates an electric field between the detection electrode 11 and a reference electrode 3; a guard voltage application section 25 for applying a voltage of the same potential as the detection voltage to the guard electrode 13; current detection sections 22 and 42 for detecting a detection current as a current flowing through the detection electrode 11 and a guard current as a current flowing through the guard electrode 13; a capacitance detection section 23 for detecting a capacitance between the detection electrode 11 and the reference electrode 3 on the basis of the detection voltage, detection current, and guard current; and an occupant determination section 24 for determining an occupant of a seat 91 on the basis of the capacitance. |
