The present invention pertains to the mobile communication field, and in particular, relates to a method for requesting capability information, a requesting terminal, and an application server. The function of integrating capability query requests and the function of analyzing aggregated response information are added to the requesting terminal, and functions of parsing the capability query request received from the requesting terminal and aggregating target terminal capability query response messages are added to the application server, so that the requesting terminal can obtain capability information of multiple target terminals through a capability query request, thereby reducing the number of sent SIP OPTIONS messages and reducing network traffic. A communication terminal provided by an embodiment of the present invention includes: an integrating unit, configured to integrating a URI of one or more target user terminals whose capability information needs to be obtained into a capability query request; and an analyzing unit, configured to analyze an aggregated capability query response received by the receiving unit to obtain capability information of a corresponding target terminal. |
