[Class 46] [Also in Group XIII] In a filter-press comprising juxtaposed frame members, or plates and frame members, which are supported by a pair of horizontal bars one at the top and the other at the bottom of the plates or frame members, the upper bar 1 has longitudinal flanges 13 and each plate 5 and frame. member has a pair of lugs 16 which extend, inwardly towards one another from the outer ends of, and form the upper edges of, a slot 15 formed in the upper part of the plate or frame member to receive the flanges, while the lugs 16 rest on the flanges. The distance between the outer edges of the flanges is greater than that between the lugs but less than the width of the slot, and the parts are otherwise so shaped that the plate or frame member can be tilted to be brought clear of the bottom bar and then removed from the upper bar by tilting transversely of the bar. In the form shown the longitudinal bar 1 is of inverted U- section, and has a reinforcing base plate 14. Short rods welded to the ends of the bar engage in holes in end supports. In other forms, the bar is of I-shape or inverted T- shape, the upper surfaces of the bottom flanges being respectively bevelled and rebated.
