The present invention relates to a lamp for a vehicle and a control method thereof, and more specifically, to a lamp for a vehicle and a control method thereof which can prevent glare on a driver of a nearby vehicle located on a side of a vehicle when the nearby vehicle passes. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the lamp for a vehicle comprises: a lamp unit to emit at least one light source to emit light of a prescribed beam pattern to the front of a vehicle; a nearby vehicle detection unit to detect a nearby vehicle located in at least one direction among both sides of the vehicle; and a control unit to form a blind zone in at least one outermost area in both sides of the beam pattern according to the detected nearby vehicle. |
