A mounting mechanism 21 for a breathable gas pack (14, Fig 2) comprises first 78 and second mounts 66, 68, 70 arranged to cooperate with first 38 and second 40 mounting portions of the gas pack. The first and second mounts are longitudinally spaced and moveable relative to one another between a loading configuration (Fig 9) in which the gas pack can be loaded onto the mounting mechanism 21, and a retained configuration (Fig 10) in which the gas pack is retained by the first and second mounts. The mounting mechanism further comprises a tension latch (90, Fig 6) arranged to move the first and second mounts between the two configurations and/or to lock the first mounting mechanism in the retained position. The first mount may be a pin 82 or aperture which fits a pin or aperture 46 on the cylinder. The second mount may be a cylinder retainer cap 66, 68, 70, which is slidable relative to the first mount between the open and closed positions. A harness 12 for breathing apparatus incorporating the mounting mechanism, and a storage station for a gas pack including the said mounting mechanism is also proposed. |
