A commodity monitoring device comprises: a store visitor number acquiring unit which acquires the number of visitors to a store; a purchasing customer number acquiring unit which acquires the number of purchasing customers who have purchased a commodity; a statistical information generating unit which generates statistical information on the basis of the number of visitors to the store and the number of purchasing customers; a commodity detecting unit which detects a commodity on the basis of a video which captures images of an exhibiting area; a sales opportunity loss analyzing unit which uses the results of the commodity detection to analyze the causes of a sales opportunity loss; and a display screen generating unit which generates a monitoring screen in which a display image representing the causes of the sales opportunity loss is superimposed on the video of the exhibiting area. |
