Method for a barcode scanning application on a mobile device with a camera, where an image is captured, a graphical overlay, made up of a message or marker on a transparent background, is rendered, the area of the image covered by the overlay is analysed to derive an image metric, where the pixel values of the message/marker is adjusted based on the image metric and the overlay superimposed on the image is displayed on the devices display. Also claimed is a mobile device comprising camera, display to show images from the camera and a graphical overlay including a message superimposed on the images, memory for an indicia reading application, and a processor to analyze the pixel characteristics in the areas surrounding the message and also adjust a colour of the message. Also claimed is an imaging barcode scanner with a camera and viewfinder to display real time images from the camera overlaid with messages, where the colour characteristics of the messages are changed in response to the colour characteristics of the images. |
