[Class 141] A girdle or corselet is provided with leg portions including back leg sections joined at the crotch and having their common upper edge overlapped by but not secured to the back panel of the garment. As shown, the garment comprises a central, preferably inelastic, front panel 10, extending to the crotch, elastic front portions 12 the lower ends of which form the fronts of the leg portions elastic side panels 14 and an elastic back panel 16 which overlaps the back leg panels 18. These leg panels are joined to the front portions 12, and to the lower edge of the panel 10 by means of a U-shaped seam 19. The U-shaped upper edge 21 of the leg panels underlies the back panel 16 which has an upwardly curved lower edge 17 spaced above the lower edges of the leg panels.
