PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image generation device, and an image generation method capable of reconstructing an image representing the information inside a subject to be examined which can suppress image quality deterioration due to noise and inconsistency between a speed used at the image reconstruction and an actual transmission speed.SOLUTION: An image generation device comprises determination means that sets an attention region 5 in a part of a subject to be examined, adjusts a phase of each detection signal based on a distance from each detection element 3 to the attention region 5, and an assumptive speed, performs the processing of calculating a variance in the intensity of a plurality of detection signals whose phase has been adjusted for a plurality of assumptive speeds, and determines the speed whose variance in the intensity is the smallest of the plurality of assumptive speeds as a transmission speed. |
