[Class 20(ii)] Multi-way clamps for connecting bars or tubes in various dispositions comprise a basic component consisting of an L-shaped member A, Fig. 1, whose limbs 1, 2 are perpendicular to each other and radiate from a quarter-recess 3, one or both limbs having a longitudinal half-recess 4 which opens into the quarter-recess. The basic component may be associated with a component C, Fig. 5, having a transverse halfrecess 6 between its ends, only one of which has a longitudinal half-recess, or with a component D, Fig. 7, having a transverse half-recess 6 between two end parts 9 each of which has a half-recess 10, the two halfrecesses 10 being aligned and perpendicular to the transverse half-recess 6. The components may be cast or pressed and may have internal or external reinforcement, the components each having a peripheral flange 11 in which the various recesses are formed and which provides the mating surfaces for juxtaposed components. The mating surfaces are set back slightly from the diametral plane to ensure effective clamping which is effected by bolts through holes 13, some of which are clearance holes, others being square to prevent rotation of the bolts.
