[Class 20(iii)] [Also in Group XXIII] A tool for inserting a rubber packing- strip of V-shaped cross-section when mounting a glass panel in a channel frame comprises a handle. 22 carrying a cylindrical barrel 23 closed at its rear end by a cap 24 having a central opening 25 and at its front end by a detachable plug 26 provided with a smaller barrel 35 having a rib 36 to locate and guide the strip, an enlargement 38 to spread its limbs apart and a presser piece 39 to apply pressure to the strip and insert one limb into the channel of the frame. The plug 26 secured to the barrel by a pin 28 engaging in a groove 27 is rotatable within the barrel and may be held in any desired position by means of a spring-pressed pin 29 engaging in a series of holes in the groove 27. The end of the barrel 35 is cut away at one side 37 to allow one limb of the packing strip to pass out sideways and a series of lubricating felts 41 soaked in glycerine or other lubricant may be located within the main barrel 23 to lubricate the strip during its passage through the tool.</p> |
