A liquid composition comprises a salicylate compound, preferably selected from the group consisting of aspirin, diflusal, diflunisal, salsalate and salicylic acid; a glycerol derivative, preferably glycerin triacetate; and a saccharin compound, preferably saccharin. Preferably the composition comprises aspirin (acetylsalicyclic acid), glycerine triacetate (triacetin) and saccharin. The composition may further comprise a flavouring agent, in particular mint oil. Preferably the concentration of the salicylate compound is 0.5 to 3% and/or the concentration of the glycerol derivative is preferably 94 to 99%. The concentration of the saccharin compound is preferably 0.1 to 3%. The salicylate compound is soluble in the composition, which is particularly suitable for oral, parenteral or pulmonary administration. A method of preparing a liquid composition comprising admixing a salicylate compound, glycerol derivative, and a saccharin compound is also provided. |
