According to an embodiment of the present invention, a computing device includes: a sensor which detects a user interaction with a physical object, and transmits a sensor signal associated with the user interaction; and a processor which communicates with the sensor. The processor receives the sensor signal, determines a character of the physical object based on the sensor signal, determines a haptic effect associated with the characteristic, and transmits a haptic signal associated with the haptic effect. The computing device further includes a haptic output device communicating with the processor. The haptic output device receives the haptic signal and outputs the haptic effect. |
