The present invention allows a fuel assembly to stand by itself without a top guide during installation and during replacement of the fuel assembly, and moreover can prevent the fuel assembly from floating up during operation of a nuclear reactor. According to the present invention, a fuel assembly can be made to stand by itself without a top guide by extending the bottom of a lower tie plate 7, which is a part of the fuel assembly 3 inserted in a fuel support metal fitting 9, and disposing stabilizing members 21 around the extended portion 20. Also, since it is possible to prevent floating during operation of the nuclear reactor by extending the bottom of the lower tie plate 7 and thereby increasing the weight, a floating prevention mechanism using a top guide becomes unnecessary. Accordingly, during installation and during replacement of the fuel assembly, it is possible to make the fuel assembly stand by itself without a top guide, and it is possible to prevent floating of the fuel assembly during operation of a nuclear reactor. |
