Disclosed in the present invention are a method and system for transmitting remote mirror packet through a resilient packet ring (RPR) ring network, the method comprising: a switch connected to a monitored terminal acquires a packet to be mirrored, and adds an identification to the packet to be mirrored so as to acquire a remote mirror packet; the remote mirror packet is transmitted to the RPR ring network for transmission; an RPR node where a monitoring host locates screens the received packet, and forcibly removes ring to the remote mirror packet and further forwards the remote mirror packet to the monitoring host via the switch. The present invention specifies the remote mirror packet to remove a ring on some RPR nodes, so as to transmit the remote mirror packet through the RPR ring network; the packet at any node of the network can be transmitted to the monitoring host through the RPR ring network by means of remote mirroring, thus monitoring whole network. The present invention can solve the problem of the remote mirror packet incapable of being transmitted through the RPR ring network, without complex functional configuration. |
