PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element which achieves good internal quantum efficiency while ensuring sufficient block property for impurities, and enhances light extraction efficiency.SOLUTION: An organic EL element 1 includes a pixel electrode 13, a luminous layer 17 arranged above the pixel electrode 13, a functional layer 31 arranged on the luminous layer 17, and a light-permeable opposite electrode 22 arranged on the functional layer 31 and formed of Ag. The functional layer 31 includes an intermediate layer 18 containing NaF, and an electron transport layer 30 arranged on the intermediate layer 18. The electron transport layer 30 is composed of an organic material having electron-transport property, and is doped with Ba. Concentration of Ba in the metal doped region 19 of the electron transport layer 30 in contact with the intermediate layer 18 is higher than that in the metal non-doped region 20 of the electron transport layer 30 closer to the opposite electrode 22 than the metal doped region 19.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
