PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a xanthene-based dye intermediate compound that has a low reaction temperature, a short reaction time, a good workability, as well as yet is also friendly to the environment.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing xanthene-based compound represented by formula (3), or a salt thereof, by heat reacting a resorcin and at least one kind compound selected from o-sulfobenzoic acid imide, o-sulfo benzaldehyde salt and o-sulfobenzoic acid cyclic anhydride, in a particular sulfonic acid such as methane sulfonic acid.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
