PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately focus on a subject.SOLUTION: An imaging device 10 comprises an imaging unit 20 that includes an image pick-up element 19 having a phase difference detection unit detecting a phase difference for calculating a focused position by an image plane phase difference AF arranged, and photographs a subject via a lens 12 capable of moving a focus position.The imaging device 10 also classifies a plurality of estimation windows 24 set so as to include mutually different phase difference detection units into a plurality of groups on the basis of a magnitude relation between the phase differences detected by the phase difference detection unit to be included in the individual estimation window 24, and comprises a specification unit 40 that specifies a main subject area 28 in accordance with a magnitude relation between a variation of a position of the estimation window 24 to be included in the classified individual group and a preliminarily set threshold and a calculation unit 50 that calculates a focused position on the basis of an average of the phase differences included in the main subject area 28 specified by the specification unit 40 and detected by the phase difference detection unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
