The invention subject to the application is a method for providing a civilian vehicle on the inside with protection against firearms. A conformal, pre-fabricated armour panel is placed on guide rails that are mounted on the vehicle floor for the purpose of supporting the panel while it is slid forward from the rear section of the vehicle towards the front along the guide rails.
