1. A lamp comprising:
a solid state light source; a unitary heat sink element thermally connected to the solid state light source, the unitary heat sink comprising a central hub, a plurality of fins extending in a first direction from the central hub and a plurality of roots extending in a second direction from the central hub, the second direction being generally opposite to the first direction; a capper configured for seating the roots of the unitary heat sink and for substantially concealing the roots from view; and an optical element connected to the capper, the optical element surrounding the solid state light source and defining a volume therein, wherein the fins of the unitary heat sink are positioned substantially within the volume. |
