PORTABLE READER DEVICE FOR READING MINIATURIZED TWO DIMENSIONAL IDENTIFICATION CODES

A hand-held portable reader device for reading a miniaturized two dimensional identification code on a tag is described. The portable reader device includes a reader body housing microscopic optics; a camera module to enable imaging of the two dimensional identification code that is less than about 5 mm by less than about 5 mm in size disposed within the reader body, a power supply for the camera module, and a reader head at the first end of the reader body that defines the focal plane of the reader device.
