A video monitoring method and device, the method comprising: obtaining video image data and a group to which members belong; according to an authority mapping table and the obtained group, screening the obtained video image data; displaying the screened video image data on a video monitor. An embodiment of the present invention reconstructs video monitoring contents, and correspondingly generates video data required by a user according to customizations of member groups having different types, thus on the one hand, achieving a goal of personalized browsing of customized content and monitoring of privacy protection, better ensuring the security of video monitoring, protecting the privacy of video monitoring content; and on the other hand, largely relieving actual workload of a monitor personnel without reducing user perceptions, saving transmission bandwidth. |
