[Class 7 (ii)] A modification of the air-intake silencer and filter, having a high-frequency eliminator chamber 22, a low-frequency resonator tube 1 and a filter 15 arranged in series, as described in the parent Specification, comprises an eliminator chamber 22 formed by a domed or conical baffle 4 having a large open end facing the tube 1. As shown the air enters by an annular space 21 having constant cross-sectional area and leaves by a branch 19. Ports 8 are formed in the tube 1 to distribute the air over the pleated filter 15 which is held against felt packings 13, 14 by a detachable cover 9 retained by a wing nut 10. A brush-type filter may be used. The ports 8 may be replaced by shielded ports midway along the tube 1. |
