Provided is an audio playback device (10) for application in a vehicle and for playing back recorded audio to the driver of the vehicle. The audio playback device (10) is provided with: a driving-stress estimation unit (13) that estimates driver driving-stress during playback of the audio; a storage unit (14) that stores a playback interval in which the driving stress is higher than a prescribed level; a rewind unit (15) that receives a rewind request from the driver and rewinds the audio; and a playback control unit (11) that, during rewound playback in which a range of the audio that was reversed as a result of the rewind of the audio is again played back, changes the playback speed depending on whether such range is the playback interval stored in the storage unit.
