PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material and a method for conjugating a water-soluble polymer with a carbohydrate-containing compound other than a blood coagulation protein, improving pharmacodynamic and/or pharmacokinetic properties of the compound while minimizing cost related to various agents.SOLUTION: There is disclosed a method for conjugating polysialic acid (PSA) or modified PSA (mPSA) to an oxidized carbohydrate part of a DNA decomposition enzyme by using a hydrazide linker. Further there is disclosed a method for conjugating polysialic acid (PSA) or modified PSA (mPSA) to (1) glycoprotein other than blood coagulation protein, (2) ganglioside or (3) an oxidized carbohydrate part of a drug delivery system containing a carbohydrate group.SELECTED DRAWING: None
