PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To activate a catalyst in a short time while minimizing discomfort given to a driver, in implementing catalyst warming-up control to retard an ignition timing.SOLUTION: Whether dQ/dθ=0 is established or not is determined with respect to a heat generation rate dQ/dθ at a crank angle θcorresponding to a valve opening timing EVO (step S12). In a case when the establishment of dQ/dθ=0 is determined in the step S12, whether dQ/dθ=0 is established or not is determined with respect to a heat generation rate dQ/dθ at a crank angle θjust before the valve opening timing EVO (step S14). When the establishment of dQ/dθ=0 is determined in the step 14, the valve opening timing EVO is advanced to the crank angle θ(step S16). In a case when the establishment of dQ/dθ=0 is not determined in the step S12, the valve opening timing EVO is retarded to a crank angle θ(step S18).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8 |
