A wireless communication apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a segment dividing unit, a reference-symbol inserting unit, a phase-rotation imparting unit, an addition unit, and a peak-to-average power ratio evaluating unit. The segment dividing unit divides a plurality of sub-carriers into a plurality of segments. The reference-symbol inserting unit inserts at least one reference symbol that includes at least one symbol having a phase for each of at least one segment of the plurality of segments. The phase-rotation imparting unit imparts a phase rotation to each of the plurality of segments on the basis of a plurality of different combination patterns including a plurality of phase rotations to be imparted to each of the plurality of segments. The addition unit adds signals corresponding to the sub-carriers included in the plurality of segments to which the phase rotations were imparted by the phase-rotation imparting unit, and generates transmission signals. The peak-to-average power ratio evaluating unit calculates a peak-to-average power ratio of the transmission signal generated for each of the plurality of different combination patterns and selects the transmission signal that has the lowest peak-to-average power ratio among the calculated plurality of peak-to-average power ratios. |
