Provided is an article storage device whereby the capacity of a building can be effectively utilized. An article storage device is configured from an article moving device (3). The present invention has an article moving device (3), X-direction travel wheels (38), Y-direction travel wheels (48), a travel wheel raising/lowering means for raising and lowering the travel wheels, and an article raising/lowering means for raising and lowering an article. By the travel wheel raising/lowering means, the X-direction travel wheels (38) or the Y-direction travel wheels (48) are lowered and the travel wheels are set down on a travel path, the travel wheels are rotated, and the article moving device can be caused to travel in the X-direction or the Y direction. In a state in which an article raising/lowering member is raised and an article on an article supporting member is picked up, or an article is placed on the article raising/lowering member in advance, the article raising/lowering member can be lowered and the article can be transferred onto the article supporting member. |
