The invention relates to a nuclear power plant 1 comprising: a containment vessel 2; a reactor pressure vessel 3 for receiving fissionable nuclear fuel; an aerosol filter stage 6 and an iodine filter stage 7, both arranged within the containment vessel; and a pressure relief conduit 8 passing through an opening in the containment vessel. In order to relieve the pressure within the containment vessel during, for example, a coolant accident, a gas volume flow is released to the atmosphere through the conduit after having passed through both the aerosol filter stage and the iodine filter stage, the two filter stages operating at essentially identical pressure levels so that the gas volume flow remains substantially constant. |
