PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communication module and a terminal side device that can appropriately monitor the state of a transmission optical signal and operate a light-emitting element to transmit an optical signal in a good condition.SOLUTION: An optical communication module 21 comprises: a light-emitting element LD which is electrically connected with a first fixed voltage node to which fixed voltage is supplied and which transmits an optical signal; a light-receiving element for monitor PD to which fixed voltage is supplied, and which is electrically connected with a second fixed voltage node electrically separated from the first fixed voltage node, and outputs current according to the strength of light received from the light-emitting element LD; a bias voltage applying circuit 72 for applying bias voltage to the light-receiving element for monitor PD; and a determination circuit 77 which is electrically connected with a node between the bias voltage applying circuit 72 and the light-receiving element for monitor PD, and which determines whether output current from the light-receiving element for monitor PD is large or small to output a determination signal indicating the determined result. |
