An objective of the present invention is to provide a side arm type transferring device which can be easily assembled. The side arm type transferring device (29) according to the present invention for accomplishing the objective comprises: a right arm (100), a center arm (110), and a left arm (120); an elevating mount (27); laser sensors (301~306); turning tool (320); and a transfer control unit (81c). The laser sensors (301~306) are installed on the elevating mount (27) and detect whether an object exists on a radiation beam of a laser. The turning tool (320) turns the laser sensors (301~306) horizontally. The transfer control unit (81c) turns the laser sensors (301~306) horizontally, and detects whether an object exists on a present invention detection parts (P1~P12, Q1~Q12) on a freight storage shelf. Particularly, the transfer control unit (81c) determines whether an object exists on transferred places (S1~S4) and whether an object exists on positions where the right arm (100), the center arm (110) and the left arm (120) are to be elongated next to the transferred places (S1~S4). |
