[Class 136 (iii)] A motor cycle frame comprises a box beam 3 extending from the steering head 1 and formed at the rear end with downwardly extending boxlike frame structures 10 and carries the spindle 9 for the rear road wheel. Lugs 2 on the steering head 1 connect with the box beam 3 and the engine bearer 4. Rails or channels 5 having box-like structures form a continuation at the rear of the box tube and have vertical struts 8 supporting the rear wheel spindle 9. Each box consists of an - outer plate 10 an inner plate 11 and a front wall 12. The plates 11 extend to the attachment brackets 14 and embrace fittings 15 which support links 13 and partly support the engine bearer 4 which is also partly supported by plates 16 being extensions of the plates 10. A fuel tank 18 straddles the box beam, and is mounted on a seating secured by a bolt passing through the beam 3. In a modification a projection on the tank fits in holes or grooves in the box beam 3 and a bolt secures by passing through the bottom of the beam and a clamp secured to the inner walls of the tank. The saddle 29 and 30 is provided with hand grips. An oil tank 35 is supported on the plate 12 and is supplied with air through a passage registering with the air intake of the engine. A filter is mounted beneath the box beam and in the air conduit of the engine. |
