[Class 78 (i)] In a carrier of the kind which is closed at one end by a fixed buffer and at the other end by a hinged buffer plate provided with locking means, the opening and closing of the plate controls positive locking means for holding an adjustable destination indicator in the set position during the travel of the carrier. The closure plate 13, Fig. 4, carries felt buffer strips 19 and is hinged to a flange 11 on the body. A fastener stud 16 on the plate is adapted to be engaged by a snap fastener socket part 15 which is mounted on a tab 14 hinged to the flange 12. When the plate 13 is closed, it depresses a plunger 31 against the action of a spring and brings a locking plate 33 thereon into engagement with notches 28a in the flanges 28 of a pair of rotatable indicating collars 25. These flanges project slightly through an opening in the body to enable the collars to be rotated for setting purposes. A spring-ball arrangement 29, Fig. 3, is provided to hold the indicator in set position when the cover is raised. The body is provided with a pair of partitions 6, 7 which extend the full length and form a compartment 8. |
