摘要 A clamping arrangement for a bundle of Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) or Negative Thermal Expansion (NTE) elements comprises a compensation mechanism to ensure constant clamping force despite shrinkage encountered on heating cycles. The arrangement may include a bundle holder comprising concentric rings with frusto-conical interfaces, and a spring biased central member, or a spring biased lever (figure 2), or sliders (figures 4, 5). An SMA element may be used as an alternative to a spring, to accurately match the characteristics of the bundle (figures 6, 7). In another arrangement, an SMA element directly adjusts clamping of the bundle holder (figure 8).
