A manually propelled vehicle (1) includes a vehicle body (10); a wheel system (30) for moving the vehicle body; a force sensor (71) that detects an operating force and outputs sensor data; a distance measuring sensor (72) that measures a distance between the manually propelled vehicle (1) and a user and outputs sensor data; and a controller (80) including a processor that receives the sensor data of the force sensor (71) and the sensor data of the distance measuring sensor (72) and a wheel drive controller that controls driving and braking of the wheel system (30) based on an output of the processor.
