PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a fixing device compact, to surely detect the rotational state of a fixing belt, and to improve the durability of the fixing belt.SOLUTION: A fixing device 18 includes a fixing belt 21 rotatably provided, a pressure member 22 coming into press-contact with the fixing belt 21, to form a fixing nip 32, an elastic member 27 fixed to the end 21b of the fixing belt 21, a cap member 28 pressed by the elastic member 27, to be rotated with the rotation of the fixing belt 21, and a detection mechanism 30 detecting the rotation of the cap member 28. The cap member 28 has a through-hole 48 through which the elastic member 27 passes and the length of the through-hole 48 in the radial direction of the fixing belt 21 is longer than the length of the elastic member 27 in the radial direction of the fixing belt 21. |
