Disclosed is an image processing apparatus (310) suitable for receiving satellite broadcasts, the apparatus including: a communicator (312) configured to connect with one of a plurality of ports of a cable (200) connected to a signal relay (100) for being tuned to a broadcast signal, and communicate with the signal relay (100) using one of a first communication protocol supporting a first number of ports among the plurality of ports and a second communication protocol supporting a second number of ports, greater than the first number; and at least one processor (315) configured to transmit a tuning command for being tuned to the broadcast signal to the signal relay (100), receive the broadcast signal tuned in response to the tuning command from the signal relay (100), and process the received broadcast signal to be displayed as an image. The at least one processor (315) transmits the tuning command based on the first communication protocol, to the signal relay, if it is determined that a port number of the port connected to the communicator is within a first number range supported by the first communication protocol based on identification information of the port. |
