[Class 52 (i)] In bedsteads as described in Specification 516,372 in which operating mechanism, including a worm and toothed rack, is provided for operating on-and-off castors the operating mechanism its arranged to be actuated by more remote means. As shown the operating mechanism within the casing A is actuated by means of a handle F disposed at the side of the bed the handle driving a shaft G which operates the shaft E through one or more universal joints. To prevent the projection of the handle F beyond the end of the bedstead the shaft G is carried in bearings in a lug or bracket J. |
