A strainer assembly (20, fig.1) adapted to be arranged on the inlet (18, fig.1) of an in-tank fuel pump 16 in order to protect said fuel pump from solid contaminant particles present in the fuel entering the pump, and/or wax build up in diesel fuel tanks. The strainer assembly (20) comprises a large mesh strainer 46 and a small mesh strainer 48 arranged so that in use the fuel entering the pump has to flow through either one of the two strainers. In normal use the fuel flows through said small mesh strainer 48, while in degraded conditions when the small mesh strainer is clogged, the fuel entering the pump may temporarily flow through and be filtered by the large mesh strainer 46. The strainer assembly 20 may also comprises an L-shape filter (38, fig.2) formed with large mesh 46 on one side and the smaller mesh 48 on the other. A pump module (12, fig.1) is also claimed. |
