An apparatus for facilitating secure transfer between two data processing devices comprises means for connecting to first and second data processing devices via first and second interfaces, and means for storing data received from a first device and providing said data to the second device via the second interface; where the apparatus renders any stored data unreadable to either device when one of the devices disconnects from the apparatus. The data may be encrypted, and may be rendered unreadable by deleting a key (e.g. session key) associated with the data; and the key may be deleted from random access memory (RAM) when power is removed from the key store. The apparatus may be connected via universal serial bus (USB) interface, or by wireless or other wired link. The apparatus may allow transfer of data in one direction, and may inhibit transfer of data in the other direction by use of a read-only interface for a predetermined time period. Alternatively the apparatus may allow bidirectional communication, depending on configuration. |
