A sumpless rotary valve has a closure member 207 which is rotatable between a closed position and an open position. The valve chamber 204 has a substantially straight or convex bottom wall 214 providing a substantially flat flow path through the valve to avoid the build-up of unwanted fluids in the sump of the valve. The closure member may pivot about an offset axis 209 or may use a cam-operated retraction mechanism (4, Fig. 8) for retracting the closure member 207 before rotating it away from its closed position. |
