[Class 80(iv)] [Also in Group XX] A protecting screen 17 for a lathe 1 has its periphery conformed to the shape of a protecting cover 18 of the lathe, and the screen is pivotable about an axis 19 perpendicular to the vertical plane through the turning axis of the lathe. The screen 17 is of transparent material and the base is secured between a U-shaped member 14 and a plate 15. The member 14 has an arm 13 which is pivoted on a pin 19 between the ends of links 11, Fig. 3. The other ends of the links 11 are pivotally mounted on a member 10 by means of a pin 12. The member 10 is mounted on a pivot 8 which is screwed into a bearing 2, and may be locked in position by a screw 9. A nut and bolt assembly 20 draws the links 11 together for adjustment of the frictional forces between the latter and the members 10, 13. The screen may substantially follow the peripheral surface of a truncated cone. |
