Provided are a method, device, terminal and system for generating and playing a live video. The method for generating a live video comprises: acquiring a video-on-demand (VOD) file in an HTTP live streaming (HLS) transfer protocol type; and in a carousel channel, generating a live broadcast file required by HLS live broadcast from the VOD file in the HLS type according to the HLS protocol. The solution in the present invention can provide HLS content for a user to watch in a carousel channel manner, and can easily support provision of a carousel service on the internet by transferring a video file via an HTTP protocol, thereby being capable of traversing a firewall and being capable of watching a video in a proxy manner. |
