[Class 40 (ii)] In a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus the recording is simultaneously recorded on and/or reproduced from both sides of a magnetic record disc by means of two electrically-connected transducers which are also coupled mechanically in such a manner that one transducer moves inwardly across one face of the disc and the other outwardly across the other face of the disc. By such means, attenuation of the higher frequencies as a transducer approaches the centre of a disc rotating at constant angular velocity, may be rectified. In the embodiment described, transducers 4 and 5 are mounted at the ends of the arms 6 and 7, respectively, of a bell-crank pivoted about a post 8, the said arms being set so that the transducer 4 traverses the upper face of the record disc 1, and the transducer 5 traverses the lower face. |
