A device 100 to stimulate a scalp comprising an array of stimulating elements 102 to pierce the skin of the scalp no deeper than a thickness of a dermis, where the stimulating-elements are arranged along a circumference of at least one wheel 104. The stimulating elements may comprise needles, which may release ions. The array may comprise a first group of needles of a first metal and a second group of needles of a second metal, where an electrochemical gradient causes ions to travel. The needles of the array may comprise at least one metal that has an electro-potential to cause ion injection. The ions may comprise at least one of copper and zinc ions. There may be means to vibrate at least one needle to increase a cross-section of a wound under the scalp and the vibration frequency and amplitude may range 50-120Hz and 0.05-0.2mm respectively. At least one needle may provide heat to maintain a temperature during piercing of the scalp. Further preferable features of the device include a drug reservoir; an encoder to count wheel revolutions. The stimulation may comprise light delivered through at least one transparent disc and optical fibres acting as skin piercing needles. |
