An electronic vapour inhaler 10 with a cartridge 26 disposed in its housing. The cartridge can contain an elongated induction heatable element 28 surrounded by a tobacco and flavour release medium. An induction coil 34 exists in the proximal end 14 of the housing. An AC current produced by power source 22 and control arrangement 20 is applied to the coil. This creates an alternating magnetic field within the coil that causes the induction heating in within the element 28. Another type of cartridge in which induction heatable material is dispersed through the flavour release medium, allowing for a more even heating effect is also available. Induction heating requires not electrical connection between the coils and heatable material, which simplifies the construction of the device. Also, since the heatable material is in the cartridge, there is no issue of it wearing out, as it is replaced along with the cartridge. |
