The method involves placing packaged goods on a base of a lower cardboard section (10). Two opposite side walls (17) are machine-folded from the lower section, where one of the side walls and one of two front walls (18) are adjacent to each other and merge into each other in corners in a materially integral manner. Two connection plates are bent down by a machine from a cover-cardboard section (5) and form inserting plates (9). The inserting plates are guided between the goods and the front walls such that the cover section is mechanically inserted into the lower section. An independent claim is also included for a packaging machine for producing a packing cardboard.
